Red Bull Racing – Formula One 2011

by admin on August 21, 2011

Red Bull is commonly known for its beverage production. It is an Australian company that has a Formula One racing team that it sponsors each season. It is the first Australian team to have won the Formula One constructor’s championship having won it in its sixth season of the competition in 2010. The team’s driver Sebastian Vettel was also the best driver in the 2010 season. The team is managed by Christian Horner.

The Australian company made its debut in Formula One Championship racing during the 2005 season after having acquired Jaguar racing in 2004. It was far more successful than the Jaguar racing team. They were ranked sixth in the constructor’s championship in their first season. They acquired more points in their first season than the points from the Jaguar team in the two previous years combined.

Originally, the team used Renault engines but in 2006 they made a deal to use Ferrari engines. This followed the rule that made it mandatory to make use of V8 engines, implying that Ferrari and Red Bull would be using similar engines. However, the Red Bull team continued using Michelin tires while Ferrari used Bridgestone racing tires.

n 2005 the team rolled out its RB2 which overcame its predecessor’s cooling problems and overheating of its internal components. However, drivers were plagued by hydraulic system’s problems which forced retirements from races and low finishes in the season.

The 2007 season saw the debut of the RB3 designed by Adrian Newey and the return of Renault engines. They also signed a new driver Mark Webber to drive alongside David Coulthard. The main driver for the 2006 season was Christian Klien but he resigned from the team with three races remaining and was replaced by Robert Doornbos. Robert became the team’s third non racing driver in the 2007 season.

Mark Webber had many woes in his race due to a persistent problem with the fuel flap that increased drag as it changed the air dynamics over the rear wing. This was the main blame for his thirteenth place finish in the season. The European Grand Prix in 2007 was however, a change in the fortunes of the team with Webber finishing in third place.

The 2008 season was a quite a success for the team, with Webber scoring five consecutive first positions in the opening rounds. They also introduced the new RB4 with Sebastien Buemi being their test driver for them. The team maintained its drivers from the previous season on the track and they started to lose ground failing to keep up with their competitors.

The 2009 season saw Red Bull launch a new RB5 and saw their drivers pull a second place finish at Bahrain. This was worth eight world championship points. 2010 was the championship year. They used a Renault engine on their new RB6 and retained both Sebastien and Webber. The RB6 was the best chassis with best handling in the Formula One cars. This was a propulsion point to their world championship win.

It still remains to be seen if the team will retain its champion ship in the current season.

Ferrari – Formula One 2011

by admin on August 21, 2011

Italians are famous for their product line of racing cars. The lines of Lamborghini Maserati and a wide range of racing cars have all been made in Italy. One of their most popular racing cars is Ferrari, which is based on Ferrari’s Formula One car. The company has continued participating in the Formula One championship throughout history and has had a lot of success. The company started as Scuderia Ferrari and mainly manufactured airplane parts during the Second World War. It only ventured into motor vehicle production after the war in 1947.

Throughout history Ferrari has produced race engines for other cars and supplied other teams with racing cars. One example is the Tony Verndervell’s team which used these cars before building their own Vanwall racing cars. However, since 1969 no other team but the Ferrari Scuderia team has entered a world championship Grand Prix in a Ferrari car.

Ferrari recorded their first victory in 1951 at the British grand prix with their driver Jose Froilan. American team Alfa Romeo was the main competitors for the Ferrari. When they pulled out of the championships after 1951, authorities had to adopt Formula Two regulations for lack of suitable Formula One cars.

This was an unprecedented move given that the Alfa Romeo had dominated the 1950 championships winning all the events they entered. This forced the Ferrari team to introduce its 2.0 four cylinder engine in the 1952 season. Their new driver, Alberto Ascari won 2 back to back driver’s championships in a Ferrari.

The 1961 season saw the introduction of new 1500 cm3rules. This was a tragic season for Ferrari with the death of their driver von Trips who crashed at the Italian Grand Prix together with a dozen spectators. This outshined the victory of their other driver by the name of Hill, who won the world championship.

This was not the end of their woes, though. The team manager, Romolo Tavoni and car designer Carlo Chiti walked out on them to set up their own team which they called ATS. This was at the end of the season. This ultimately set back the team for failure in the 1962 season. They were waiting for their new racing director Mauro Forghieri to work on new designs while they continued to use their old cars and hence they won no race.

Since then Ferrari signed a new driver John Surtees who took the driver’s crown and from then the company has experienced a lot of success. Their driver Lewis Hamilton has for a while been the world champion. Their archrivals McLaren have not been able to take this away from him.

Ferrari’s road cars have recorded ground breaking speeds and are top rated by review magazines as the ultimate sports cars for ultimate speed freaks. Ferrari has also ventured into the production of hybrid cars in the initiative to go green, save energy and reduce carbon emissions that are mainly to blame for the monster that is global warming.

What Are the Advantages of a Hybrid Car?

by admin on July 20, 2011

ampera 300x113 What Are the Advantages of a Hybrid Car?

Hybrid cars are often in the news. More and more car companies are making hybrid cars. There is also talk of bringing a totally electric car into mass production. But most people want to know what a hybrid car will do for them. You are more willing to buy something if it gives you an advantage.

A hybrid car is one that uses an electric engine to start up. It uses the electric motor for city driving and slow speed driving. It also has a gas motor which it uses on long trips or above certain speeds. The gas motor keeps the electric motor charged when it kicks in.

Then there is a car like the Vauxhall Ampera. It is a car that is technically a hybrid. It isn’t a hybrid in the traditional sense. It is a fully electric car, using the electric motor for power all the time. It has a gas motor to charge the electric motor.

The biggest advantage of a hybrid car like the Ampera isn’t directly to you. You do benefit from it though. The biggest advantage is that you are helping to save the environment. Hybrid cars cut down on emissions, since it doesn’t use as much gas.

The fact that a hybrid car uses much less gas also saves the environment. There isn’t as much of a demand for gas. That means that the emissions and other pollution produced by drilling for oil is reduced. Those things go a long way to protecting the environment.

The biggest advantage that directly affects you is that you will save money. The Ampera will save you money at the gas station. Gas prices are high and only getting higher. There is no relief in sight. Experts say that prices are just going to get higher.

But with a hybrid car you don’t have to go to the gas station nearly as much. One of those cars will significantly stretch how many miles per gallon you will get. A car like the Vauxhall Ampera will really let you save at the gas pump. That’s how it saves you money immediately.

Another way the Ampera can save you money is that you will get a tax credit. The government offers tax credits on many environmentally friendly things. Hybrid cars are just one of those things. It might not be money you see immediately, but it will save you money on your taxes. Not only does the federal government offer credits, but many state governments do as well.

If you want a hybrid car you want to know what’s in it for you. You will save money when you own a Vauxhall Ampera. An Ampera can help you save the environment. Those are two big advantages for you.

Vauxhall Lifetime Warranty

vauxhall.e8tsrbf4pao8440oo0cok4gow.a5fuq7lrqzkgc0ccw4ss08gso.th 300x199 Vauxhall Lifetime Warranty

Whenever a person buys a new car, he expects to enjoy the car for as long as possible. In different words, people buy cars with the understanding that it would serve them for a long time to come. With this in mind, it comes as no surprise that Vauxhall dealerships have been doing a lot of business these days.

The reason for this is simply that Vauxhall is providing a lifetime warranty to all its newly purchased cars through its authorized Vauxhall dealerships. Cars, like every other piece of machinery, can break down due to external influences or just get damaged due to some accident. This makes it very important for an owner to not only take care of his new car but also make sure that he gets a car that has a long warranty period. If you are planning to buy a new car then buying a new Corsa for sale would allow you to take advantage of Vauxhall’s lifetime warranty. Here is how this warranty works.

1. The first year: Every new Vauxhall car comes with a one year warranty period which is not restricted in terms of the distance that the car travels. This unlimited mileage in the first year consists of qualifying repairs for free.

2. The following two years: Even though in the first year the lifetime warranty on Vauxhall cars is unlimited, in the second and third years there is a limit on them which is to the tune of 60,000 miles.

3. The rest of the car’s life: From here on in, the warranty lasts for a lifetime with an expansive distance limit of 100,000 miles. This is a very unique warranty that is not seen with any other car sold in the country. As any of the many Vauxhall dealerships would tell you, these warranties consist of an anti perforation corrosion warranty, which is not limited by any kind of a mileage restriction.

Apart from this, the Vauxhall warranty contains protection for a variety of other components and parts of the car. Some of the components and car systems covered by a Vauxhall warranty include brake parts, safety systems, cooling, power train and steering, electronic components, air conditioning and many other important parts of the car. Even so, it is worth noting that, like all other new car warranties, the Vauxhall lifetime warranty does not contain maintenance and services or cover for modifications and conversions to the car. The Vauxhall warranty does require the owner of the car to bring his car for an annual check-up every year. In fact, the warranty is dependent on the owner doing this because it allows the company to maintain the car like they want to.

All an owner wanting to avail Vauxhall warranty has to do is to bring his warranty card to the service station along with an update service booklet. The Vauxhall warranty is provided by all authorized Vauxhall dealerships. Therefore, when you purchase your new Vauxhall car from any of the many authorized Vauxhall dealerships, you can be certain that you will receive the lifetime warranty.

Formula One Regulations 2011

by admin on July 14, 2011

The Formula one championship is one of the most exciting events in racing history. It’s renowned for being an accurate representation of Formula ones competitive nature. It’s the most exhilarating racing sport out there, and due to its immense popularity and the intensity of the races that it encompasses there are many regulations out there that bind the participants to strict rules. There are certain aspects of Formula one that require these regulations otherwise the competitive spirit wouldn’t be the same. F1 racing is all about the skill of the driver, and the small technicalities of the car itself, instead of the cars being vastly different they all have to fit certain parameters making it a fair, and spirited racing event.

Recently in 2011 the Formula one racing regulations has changed, and now a new company is the supplier of the F1 tyres, and will be from this year until 2013. There is a new ban on most streamlined aerodynamic devices that can be affixed to a car; this includes F-ducts and double diffusers. The new height of the diffuser is must be 125 mm. Cars must now have smaller engine covers and no fins.

There is a new qualification requirement as well, now people must set a lap time that is 107% of the fastest first quarter time in order to start the race. There are a few exceptions to this rule, but only in extreme cases. Penalties on drivers have also been intensified and there are now time penalties, exclusion from the race penalties, and suspension from various events as well for breaking the rules or formula one regulation.

Each wheel must now be retained by at tethers; wheel retention must be consistent amongst all the formula one championship cars. The cars also have to face up to stricter floor tests as well, making sure that there body work can hold up to the strain that the race might cause. In addition to the rules on what can be affixed to the car, and the new punishments, there is also a new rule on weight distribution, requiring at least 45.5 percent of the weight must be over the front axle now.

The formula one championship has really tightened the knot around the rules and regulations this year, not only regarding the design of the car but the practices of the team and the racer as well. As things go on we can only imagine how the rules might change in the future. Whether it has to do with the distribution of the weight or the carriers of the tyres, there are certainly a lot of changes that took place this year in formula one, and it is likely that it will continue to develop as time goes on.

The Cars of Formula One 2011

by admin on July 14, 2011

When it comes to excitement, there is nothing that can beat the kind of adrenalin that watching formula one cars generates. The source of this speed is, of course, the formula 1 cars that are used in the races. Here is a lowdown on all teams and cars in formula one.

1. Red Bull Racing: Red Bull Racing was the leader of the constructors’ standings in the last formula one season i.e. the 2010 season. The team’s drivers were the famous Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber. Vettel also holds the distinction of being the winning driver of the 2010 season with 161 points, 50 more than the closest challenger. The cars of Red Bull Racing were an amalgamation of Red Bull, Renault and Pirelli with their contributions being the chassis, the engine and the tyres, respectively.

2. McLaren: McLaren is one of the teams in formula 1 that boasts of a cult following from age old fans. The rivalry between Ferrari and McLaren is seen as legendary with major clashes being between the erstwhile Ferrari driver Michael Schumacher and erstwhile McLaren driver Mika Hakkinen. McLaren stood second in the constructors’ standings last season as well as the drivers’ standing. The team’s current drivers are Lewis Hamilton and Jensen Button, with the two having struck a good partnership. The McLaren cars boast of a MP4-26 chassis supported by the Mercedes Benz FO 108 Y engine and Pirelli tyres. While the Red Bull cars were regarded as the fastest last season, McLaren’s formula one cars were seen as the most reliable.

3. Ferrari: Ferrari is the bitter rival of McLaren and, as mentioned earlier, has been known to clash with the latter repeatedly over the years for both the constructors’ championship and the drivers’ trophy. In the year 2010, the team only managed third position on the constructors’ standings with 101 points. The cars from the team function on a 150 degree Italia chassis, a Ferrari engine and Pirelli tyres.

4. Lotus Renault: Lotus Renault held the fourth position in the constructors’ standings on the back F1 cars consisting of the Renault 31 chassis, the Renault engine and Pirelli tires.

5. Mercedes: Mercedes, the team that boasts of the legend Michael Schumacher only managed fifth position on the table and Schumacher was out driven by his teammate Nico Rosberg consistently in 2010. The Mercedes cars are driven on an MGP W02 chassis, a Mercedes Benz engine and Pirelli tyres.

The above mentioned five teams are the five top racing teams of the 2010 season of formula one racing. These teams also boast of the ten best drivers in the last season i.e. Sebastian Vettel, Mark Webber, Lewis Hamilton, Jensen Button, Fernando Alonso, Felipe Massa, Nick Heidfeld and Vitaly Petrov, Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg.

The speed that is constantly visible in a typical formula 1 race has been known to get the pulse racing for many viewers. As a matter of fact, the speeds at which the cars of formula 1 travel have been attributed as the primary reason for the popularity of the sport all over the world

Vauxhall dealerships have made the brave move to decide to extend their lifetime warranty scheme to all used cars as well as new ones. As more people are choosing to purchase used cars instead of new ones this seems like a good move from Vauxhall. With the current financial situation in the world people are being far smarter with their money and their purchases.

The Network Q used car program was launched in 1990 and has proved to be very successful. More and more people are going to their local Vauxhall dealerships to look for used cars. Although new cars are still selling, used ones are very popular. The scheme offers a large choice of cars from large models to a smaller corsa for sale.

The lifetime warranty that Vauxhall have offered is only for used cars sold through their Network Q approved scheme. However the Vauxhall dealerships know they are providing a great offer for consumers to take advantage of. Many of the cars that are for sale are covered within the scheme and you will be feeling that you are covered for many eventualities.

The conditions of the lifetime warranty will depend on several factors including that the Corsa for sale has to be less than 12 months old and have less than 30,0000 miles. The Vauxhall dealerships will also only cover the brakes, steering and electrical systems.

Although this may seem very limited if you were looking at buying a Vauxhall you will be covered in the future. As with any type of lifetime guarantee you will need to return your car to approved Vauxhall dealerships for annual inspections. This will ensure that your car is kept in the best possible condition, and that the policy remains in place.

The Vauxhall dealerships feel that they are offering a great service for all second owners and hopes to encourage people to keep their cars for longer. There are far too many different cars on the market and offering the lifetime policy to second owners may encourage them to keep the car.

If you are looking for a particular type of Vauxhall the scheme has many different ones on offer. A corsa for sale in any other dealership may be more expensive and not have the lifetime guarantee as well. The Vauxhall dealerships are so confident in their high level of quality that they know the used cars will still be in good condition.

Vauxhall wants to give something back to their customers and feel that as consumers are becoming more aware of their spending, a guarantee is ideal. This initiative offers reassurance that the corsa for sale is of the best quality possible. Vauxhall dealerships are realistic with their understanding of the current market.

Times are hard and offering something back to customers looking to buy used cars is a great way to get people interested in their product. Not only will the lifetime guarantee encourage new customers, it will also keep the loyal customer base the Vauxhall dealerships have. Everyone likes to feel that they are respected and appreciated by the company.

New Astra GTC to Hit the Road

by admin on July 8, 2011

While the official introduction of the Vauxhall Astra GTC is not scheduled until the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed, the internet has been provided access to a wealth of information and some pictures of this new and exciting vehicle. Sitting on the Delta platform just like the Astra hatch and estate, this cruiser gets its front suspension from the Insignia VXR with its high performance struts said to improve grip and reduce torque steer.

Targeting head-to-head competition with the Volkswagen Scirocco and the Renault Megane Coupe, the Astra GTC concept-like body shell is sure to catch many an eye. Being offered with four different engines, choices abound for just how much muscle you want to hook up with this finely tuned suspension.

astra gtc 300x147 New Astra GTC to Hit the Road

Engine packages offered for the Astra GTC are:

(Two) 1.4 litre petrol engines
o 117Bhp
o 137bhp

A 2.0 litre diesel
o 160bhp and 280lb ft of torque
o 57.6mpg rating with a potential range of 700 miles per tank

1.6 litre turbo
o 175bhp and a top speed of 132mph

The Astra Twintop convertible model is also offered for those that just can’t keep themselves from mixing speed with the open air.
Vauxhall claims that with its wider track for the Astra GTC (being 15mm lower, 10mm longer, and 40mm wider up front and 30mm wider at the back) it is capable of sporting 20in wheels with a Watt’s link rear suspension setup. Scheduled to introduce the VXR version of the GTC in 2012, Vauxhall is staged to leap-frog the Scirocco and the Megane, and perhaps even looking to tackle the Golf R and the Audi RS3 in the process.

With prices for the 1.4 litre Astra GTC Sport starting at £18,495 this is the most affordable version of this sporty model. Coming in with prices starting for the 2.0 litre diesel SRI at £22,430 the price of speed and fuel economy will cost you more as to be expected.

On the interior design, the Astra GTC is designed to seat four adults comfortably while beating its major competitors, the Scirocco and the Megane for luggage space. With the Astra GTC holding between 370 and 1,235 liters as compared to the Scirocco at 312 and 1,006 and the Megane at 344 and 991, it is easy to see who wins the luggage space battle. Due to the space required for holding the convertible top on the Astra Twintop, there cannot be a direct apples to apples comparison of luggage space for this particular model.

In addition to the above, with Vauxhall planning to introduce the new 300bhp VXR version in 2012, this will certainly change a few things by further cranking up the competition a notch or two. Designed to take on the Volkswagen Golf R and Audi’s pricey new RS3, the VXR version of the Astra GTC line will have all of this power going to the two front wheels. It will be very interesting to see how this version handles all of that power (with the 175bhp engine producing a top speed of 132mph, one can only imagine what 300bhp is going to max out at).
