We like to find a bargain in life, to know that we’ve bought something for lower than the market value. Whether we’re doing our weekly shopping, or buying something larger like a house or a new car, we will try to get the best price that we can.

This often leads people to shun their local car dealer in favour of buying private, either through the local newspaper or through the Internet. This can, in some cases, prove to be a wise move, but all too often when you buy private you end up buying something that is less than what you expected.

When you look for used cars privately, you have no guarantee that they are free of faults and that they will work without requiring maintenance. However, when you buy from a large car dealer you know that each car the dealer sells has been thoroughly checked by a trained mechanic. You also know that should the vehicle develop a fault you will be able to return it to the dealer for it to be looked at and fixed if necessary.

You have no such peace of mind when buying private.

Many used car dealers also sell new cars, and even though you may be budgeting for a used car, the price of some new cars could give a pleasant surprise – especially when you consider the government scrappage scheme that gives you money off for trading an old car. New cars also come with longer warranties, meaning you can be sure of avoiding expensive repairs for years to come.

Some of the best used and new cars available

by admin on January 25, 2010

We’ve all seen TV shows such as Top Gear and Fifth Gear, where some of the most expensive cars ever made are put through their paces and reviewed. However, this doesn’t generally help us to decide which car we want to buy as most of them are almost exclusively for millionaires.

When it comes to quality cars for the rest of us, we want cars that are reliable, cheap to run, luxurious and make us feel good.

For example, if you wanted a quality new BMW to do the daily commute and take the kids to school, you could try the BMW 3 Series. It’s the most popular car in the UK, and whether you buy one new or if you buy a used BMW, you know it will not let you down and it will look and feel great when you drive it.

Another popular car to buy would be a new Ford, such as the Ford Mondeo. The Mondeo used to be the most common car in the UK, until it was overtaken by the BMW 3 Series, which means that a new or used Ford such as a Mondeo offers you a great car, and a more exclusive one than the BMW!

Another option would be a new Vauxhall, such as the Vectra. The Vectra is in the same class as the Mondeo and the 3 Series, so whether you buy a new car or a used Vauxhall, you know that a Vectra will do the job that you ask of it.

The Benefits of Joining a City Car Club

by admin on January 19, 2010

With city driving becoming more and more difficult and expensive, many people living in cities and other areas are opting to join a city car club to make life easier.

If you currently don’t own a car and are relying on public transport a car club can be a good option as you don’t have to have the day to day costs of car ownership but then you still have a car available to do your weekly shop. On the other hand for people looking for the use of premium cars for special occasions or weekends away a car club is also a good option. You then always have a car on hand when needed and often can have a wide choice of cars to choose from.

For others currently owning a car and having to pay the day to day costs of tax, insurance, petrol, parking and congestion charges it may also be time to ditch car ownership in favour of a car club. You could make considerable savings. There are a variety of car clubs on offer ranging from where you can pick up a car at allocated spaces for a joining fee and then pay-as-you-go to the premium car club where you have a range of luxury cars and sports cars to choose from. There are also some car clubs that offer an eco friendly electric car option for city driving during the week as well as a premium car for the weekends-what more could you want?

With car clubs evolving all the time and becoming more and more sophisticated – is car ownership dead?

Top 10 city cars

by admin on January 4, 2010

As most of the cities in the UK are very crowded, with space at a premium, you ideally need your car to be fairly compact. This instantly rules out the bulk of larger vehicles. You also need your car to be very fuel efficient, as the constant stopping and starting you will experience in the city will increase your fuel usage considerably. This means that smaller cars would be preferable, perhaps even diesel cars.

With the size of the vehicle, and the fuel consumption of the vehicle both being important factors, you should probably dismiss all 4×4 vehicles when looking at new cars for use in the city.

Instead you need to look at compact, fuel efficient cars that are light and easy to handle. Here are some examples of new cars that would make excellent cars for sale. These are definitely ones to look out for when looking for cars for sale .

1. Volkswagen Golf
2. Toyota Corolla
3. Vauxhall Corsa
4. BMW Mini
5. Nissan Micra
6. Renault Clio
7. Fiat 500 Abarth
8. Vauxhall Zafira
9. Mercedes A-Class
10. Honda Civic

Not everyone will find small cars of use in the city, especially if they have families. For this reason, larger new cars such as the Vauxhall Zafira would be preferable to a small car because you can easily get your children in and out of the car safely, yet it is still cheap and reliable to run.
