We love movie cars! They go faster, perform better, have mind blowing accessories, gadgets and contraptions and always manage survive the most hair raising experiences. With so many to choose from, we’ve managed to whittle the best movie cars down to the top 5! KITT, Ecto-1, the Delorium, the Batmobile and Bumble-Bee. But which fictional car manages to trump them all? There must be one that reigns supreme in the fictional car stakes? We’ve compiled this circuit to showcase the best of each. In a test of brute strength, speed, looks and practicality, let’s see how they’ll fair. With one or two nifty little tricks under their bonnets who will come up top trumps?
Round One – Strength:
The Delorium has no chance! Other than looking like an old rust bucket, it has very little in terms of strength to win this round. Ecto-1 is another no chancer, other than offering geeky gadgets on its roof rack, this is another car that will get smashed to smithereens in next to no time. KITT has a fighting chance but wouldn’t hold my breath as a winner. This round only has two clear contenders, the Batmobile and Bumblebee. Yes the Batmobile can tunnel its way through brick walls, it’s bullet proof and fire proof but has absolutely no chance against Bumble-bee. Yes the name may seem all sweet and light but when this yellow and black Camero turns into a transformer, it’ll be able to crush the old Batmobile with one footstep. Winner of this round – BUMBLE-BEE!
Round Two – Speed:
Ecto-1 the big heap of junk, will be left trailing behind the pack, with no rocket boosters and no energy, this one’s going to be left standing at the starter blocks. Bumble-bee will go fast but in its Camero state, has the same mph as the average car sitting outside your front door, not that spectacular. KITT and the Batmobile both have tricks of their own. KITT’s turbo-boost dial rockets it to about 200mph, but the Batmobile has capabilities of 300mph, so beats KITT hands down. But nothing does speed like the Delorium! With the capabilities to travel back in time, it defies the laws of physics and blasts all theories of relativity right out of the window. Winner of this round – DELORIUM!
Round Three – Looks:
It’s really not looking good for Ecto-1 at the moment, having come last in strength and last in speed, it has also comes last in looks. But can you blame us? It’s more ghost magnet that chick magnet. The Delorium is not far behind, sure it may take you back to the future, but if only it’s exterior was as futuristic as its gadgets. The Batmobile’s robust and sturdy looks aren’t everyone’s cup of tea but are far more aesthetically pleasing that the two above. KITT’s black, sleek and very very sporty…if you still live in the 80’s that is! Yellow and black has always been a great combo and it works very well on bumble-bee too. It’s a car that always gets the girl and looks good at the same time. Winner of this round – BUMBLE-BEE
Round Four – Practicality:
The Delorium’s fuel of choice is Plutonium, highly unpractical and not so easy to come across. Imagine rolling into your nearest Texaco asking for Plutonium. Besides the fuel factor, imagine wanting to go to the shops, press the wrong button and you’ll end up driving back to see Henry VIII in person!! The Batmobile lacks practicality, sure there’s space for rocket launchers and submachine guns but where on earth do u put your groceries?!!? Finally a category where the poor old Ecto-1 doesn’t come in last. Sure it may lack in charm and charisma but it takes you from A to B and sits 5 very comfortably. KITT and Bumble-Bee are both practical cars, sporty with great features, won’t leave you looking out of place in the slightest. KITT’s slight disadvantage however, is being a throwback of the 80’s – imagine finding spare parts! You have to work your way to the local salvage yard and hope for the best. Winner of this round – BUMBLE-BEE
We have a clear winner by far. Winner of 3 rounds, Bumble-Bee is champ of the movie cars!!! Very well done to the others. 2nd place awarded to Delorium, joint 3rd place awarded to KITT & Batmobile. Commiserations to Ecto-1 who doesn’t get a place on the podium, but does however receive a very special award for Miss Congeniality, good sport!
